At the very heart of the international trade and financial system, the complex but fascinating world of commodities has emerged over the last decade as an inescapable field of study for those who want to comprehend the economic and geopolitical stakes of the early 21st century based on a long-term vision. In line with this spirit, the Advanced Training in Commodity Economics & Finance is designed to train executives in all the economic and financial issues related to commodity markets, and to give them the appropriate tools to comprehend the complexity behind current commodity economics issues.

The training aims to provide:

• The skills necessary to understand modern commodity markets based on
historical factors;
• The fundamentals of commodity markets and energy economics;
• An understanding of the techniques used in commodity derivative-pricing;
• A proper understanding of the concepts of hedging and speculation in
commodities;
• The ability to compare relative performances of various financial instruments
and hedging strategies.

Target Audience

This program is dedicated to people identified as high potential with a background in economics or finance and who have accumulated a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience. 

Admissions

Through a rigorous selection process, the applicants are selected based on - but not limited - number of relevant years of experience, and a strong interest in the courses’ topics. The number of trainees will go up to 25 per year.
